National Championships Rotation

To ensure regular rotation of the national championships through each state, there is a regular rotation allowing state fleets and clubs to know when to plan to host an event. The rotation is only arbitrary and can be changed at the AGM if there is a specific reason such as the world championships being hosted in Australia, or there is a specific showcase reason for the class. (excuses such as Perth is to far away do not really count).

Open Fleet Rotation

The rotation got somewhat jumbled due to COVID, so we have restarted it using the past few national Championships as a guide.

  • New South Wales 2022-2023 - St George Sailing Club
  • Tasmania 2023-2024
  • Queensland 2024-2025
  • Western Australia 2025-2026
  • Victoria 2026-2027
  • New South Wales 2027-2028

Low Riders Rotation

The low rider National Championships is evolving into a new phenomenon and for various reasons the rotation of the open fleet may not suit the lowriders. The following list indicates the current progression of the nationals rotation plan based on where the thinking of the fleet feels that a combined event will work well.

  • New South Wales 2022-2023 - St George Sailing Club
  • 2023-2024 To be Determined
  • Queensland 2024-2025
  • Western Australia 2025-2026
  • 2026-2027 To be Determined
  • New South Wales 2027-2028

While it is great to have a combined open and lowrider nationals, and it showcases the best of the class, the venues will not always work for everyone, so the association openly supports the flexibility to allow the fleets to work in their best interests.
