Just starting to think about the Perth nationals and I'm just wondering if anyone's got any ideas about accommodation and how people are planning to get their boats and selves to WA and back? Is anyone thinking of driving from the eastern states, or is everyone just going to stick their boats on a truck and fly to the west?

As far as accommodation is concerned it appears the Cherubs are in town at the same time on the other side of the river - they have an accommodation guide here.

cherubs are on earlier with an overlap so transport might not be convenient.

Plan to have a container ex sydney, nothing organised yet.

I am advised that the NOR is iminent and that a container deal for eastern states boats is also organised.
Dates AFAIK are 2nd Jan to 10th at South of Perth YC

I have flights and accommodation booked so look forward to details and the trip.

We have a site for the event that is http://www.imoth-wa.org

NOR and entry form should be there on Friday.

We have got a really good deal on return freight by truck (not a container) from either Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Sydney to Perth return for a box the size of a Prowler is $520. If your box is smaller then it will cost less.

Brisbane to Perth return is $635.

Melbourne to Perth return is $455. Prices include fuel surcharges and GST.

We have a club member with a truck whom will transport the boats/boxes from the Perth depot to the club.

Accomodation options are on the site but we are yet to add another option that is the university WA appartments usually occupied by students during the year. These are quite close to the race area but on the opposite (north) side of the river so you will need transport to get to the club which is about 10 min drive.

There is also camping at the club, free I think??

Scow wanted for the Perth Nats. Too expensive to send a scow from Brisbane so I am looking to buy/hire or borrow a scow in Perth. I have tried to get contact details for past scow sailors in Perth but no success to date.
So if you know of any old scow sailors around Perth please let me know their contact details.

From Guy Skinner @ SOPYC --

2010 Australian Moth Championships - South of Perth Yacht Club 2-9 Jan 2010

Freight Deal
Anyone interested in freighting their boat to Perth for the Nationals is elegible for a special rate with WA Freightlines. We have been quoted their Gold rate less 20% across the country.

With a current Prowler packed in the box, the rate equates to $520 inc GST return from Sydney with the current fuel levy. To access this deal, we need to have a primary contact in each state to deal with each WA Freightlines depot, and bookings and payments need to happen as a group rather than individuals.

As you are aware, the Christmas period is a very busy period for freight companies. This very generous offer by one of our club members is appreciated and I'd urge you to contact WA Freightlines if they can assist with other transport or logistics enquiries.

Please get your local fleet organised, then contact John Ilett (john@fastacraft.com) or Guy Skinner (guy@cottnews.com.au) for more information.

Accomodation
Looking for accomodation overlooking the regatta venue?
It's possible if you bring a tent. We have a really large rigging lawn at the club, and we can use it for "Moth City" - a campsite where the only cost is due to your beer being the closest available! There are showers and toilets close by and you don't have to worry about getting home at night - get in before all the locals claim their spots.

More information is available on the Notice of Race, our state website www.imoth-wa.org or www.sopyc.com.au.

John Ilett has asked me to co-ordinate the NSW freight.

We need to provide John with a list of people sending boats, and I asume some rough idea of package sizes, boat box, foil box, spars tube if appropriate etc,

So please all who are intending to go to Perth from NSW please contact me via philstevo2003(at)yahoo(dot)com(dot)au with some info.

We have to tell the trucking co what we are sending as a total package, they will then tell us where to deliver and when.

Since $$ and beer make the world go around we have included both in the Perth Aussie titles.

One of our sponsors is Corona!

And the dash for cash winner gets $1000, 2nd place $200.

Imagine that!

plus free camping with great view at a very nice club. http://www.sopyc.com.au

Titles site here http://www.imoth-wa.org

Get your arse in gear you slackers. With our cheap arranged/sponsored freight deal and free camping it won't break the bank.

For the record the results from Perth are on the WA IMCA site: http://nsigns.com.au/moth/results/Race% ... ts%205.pdf
AMAC (Vic)won 11 of the 15 races and was consistantly faster without apparent effort. He had the only M2 there.
NSW Prowlers with Andrew Stevenson (2003 model) and Luka Damic (2008 Zero) fought out 2nd and 3rd.
Next group were NSW Zero Prowlers of Alan Goddard and Phil Kurts plus Qld BR X8 of Brent Pearson.
These were sometmes mixed in with the nezt group who seemed to have the best racing of the regatta:
Richard Heritage (WA) with a 1990s Twynan on Ilett foils, John Ilett WA Zero, Chris Paterson WA X8, Benjamin Rankin Qld BR FX, Phil Stevenson NSW Karma/Tiger, then James McKenzie with an Alpha
Richard won the light air race with the oldest foiler in the fleet.
Scows of Ian Sim (NSW) and Phil Lammonby (WA) completed the fleet.
The WA X8 of Cain McVee sailed only one day.
Glen Oldfield broke his experimental Whisper two days before the regatta and did not compete.
Julien from France, who came to pick up his new Prowler and compete broke some ribs just before the regatta and had to watch proceedings.
The spectacular Dash for Cash elimination was won by Andrew Stevnson from Alan Goddard. AMAC did not race and Luka caught a trawling fishing line and damaged his flap in an early round.
South of Perth YC put on an excellent regatta with what seemed like more volunteers than sailors. Those who went enjoyed it and those who did not missed a great time.
