The annual mono masters is on at Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club (Qld) during 5 to 6 December 2009:

There should be a bunch of Moths, including scows and skiffs.

There should be 4 from lcsc. 3 scows, 1 skiff. Hopefully we'll get a few visitors as well.

Do you qld mothies have an association or at least a leader?
I have some IMCA Aust business to circulate and my current email addresses for Qld have bounced.
Please contact at my yahoo address.

OK, the NOR is finally up, there'll be at least 5 scows and 3 skiffs. Who needs foilers! :D

Cootharaba is probably too shallow for foilers anyway... it certainly was a couple of years back.

A terrific weekend - 5 scows, 2 skiffs and a foiler.

Yes, it was too shallow for foilers (but Bob gave it a go anyway), and way to windy for skiffs (but Steve Sherring showed how it's done by coming 7th on handicap, up amongst the Sharpies and Contenders).

Lots of damaged boats, broken masts and torn sails. I skipped racing on Saturday (too windy), then tried Sunday and broke the lower forward wing strut in two places on the first reach of the first race. Should be back on the water for the GRFC at DPSS this weekend.

Thanks LCSC for a great weekend.

Results are here:

Monomasters was a great weekend. As Rob said, plenty of wind, spills, carnage, man- we had it all.
Big thanks to Rob Green from Brizzy, Bob Pearson from Yeppoon and Steve Sherring from the Goldie for making the effort to get to the lake for the weekend. They joined the locals, Mike Wilcocks, Mike Kohler, Dave Parkes, Julian Griffiths and myself to give the moths a good show of numbers.
Congrats to all and thanks to LCSC for a top regatta.

Great weekend guys, good to see the moths support this event. I took a couple of photos but not sure how I can post them here.

Here you go, five scows and a skiff, there's another skiff and foiler just out of shot to the left.

Here's the URL in case you can't see the pic: http://members.iinet.net.au/~greenrm/MM_Beach%203.jpg

BTW Mike, did you get that bung I left on your boat?

No Rob, and I can't believe you left town oweing me a bung!!

It's probably still on the boat now hanging from the ceiling, waiting for the next big moth regatta. Wingnut gets retired again and it's back to racing Bullet Proof for club racing.

Anyone wanting to try sailing on a scow at the lake just let me know as we appear to have bulletproof sorted and very strong after the complete rebuild over winter. Had it out again yesterday for the film crew who were doing a feature on Boreen Point for the TV series Great Weekender. And yes it's still blowing strong from the North.

Hope you are back on the water soon and the damage bill isn't excessive. Let us know if you have any regatta's down your way in the new year.

Regards Mike W
