The Moths are back on for SIRS this year.

The regatta runs from 6th - 9th December at Woollahra Sailing Club.

More information on the Yachting NSW web site.

The SIRS invite clashes with the programmed NSW Inteclub race at St George on the 6th. It is also a club Champs. I am canvassing the StG fleet to see who would prefer to race the SIRS regatta. It is a difficult time of year for people who actually do work as well as sail so there may not be many locals entered for the 4 days.
Other club sailors please post your intention to sail SIRS so we know if a viable fleet will be there.

St George IC (or balmoral if it gets changed) and Northbridge for me. Would only be able to make the weekend days and entry fee doesn't seem worth it to me for only 2 days.

So far the feedback from St George is that the SIRS is not popular. Steve, Lea, Luka, Grant, Andrew and Dave have indicated they will not be entering SIRS. No one has indicated that they will be entering.
So it looks like the majority of fleet will be sailing at StG on saturday so the Club Champs will likely remain on. Whether we make it the interclub depends on who might like to visit, or would the previous week be better?

Oh well. It's a shame the St George fleet wont be coming out of hiding for SIRS.

With Bora, Charlie and Hans coming out from the US, and John and myself and a bunch of Woollahra (ir)regulars, we will field a viable and very competitive fleet.

I'm up for it.

It'll be a good nationals warm up if you can sneak out of work!

Glad SIRS will have a fleet of Moths.
On another thread we discussed the NSW calendar from June to October and SIRS did not come up. Consequently NSW IMCA plus StG and other clubs set programmes without including SIRS.
It was about 3 years ago when we were last invited so the linclusion of moths in the subsequent NOR was a surprise to most. Its also a difficult time for a lot of people to get a 4 day weekend off work. And $210 is a bit steep if you can only sail 2 days.
We StGeorge sailors did come out of hiding in numbers at the Sunshine ZHIK regatta last week, with Dave sailing to a yardstick rating of about 50, so if the overseas guys want to test their speed they had better make the trip to StG the Saturday before SIRS for a go at the biggest and best foiler fleet in the country. We will make that race the NSW IMCA interclub if everyone agrees.

Early entries close on Nov 26th, so get them in asap.

The current entry list is up on the web: http://www.sailsydney.org.au/Entry/ViewEntriesPublic.aspx?EID=18866&Format=popup

Due to the effective boycott from our mates at SIRS of the St. George interclub, I think that the NSW IMCA needs to change the date of the interclub so there is no event clash.

This will hopefully then leave the decision to enter SIRS or not down to each individual and the mud slinging that is going on somewere else can stop.

Pretty sure Phil mentioned somewhere about moving it to the weekend before. Guess the only thing is if this clashes with any club champ or something for the balmoral sailors or woolahra (how do you spell it anyway) sailors. If not sounds like a simple solution to me.

Our club championship heat can be moved with one email to the club members, so that is not a big deal.

See previous post:
The StG interclub is on the week before SIRS for those who want to be in it. Both weeks are StG club Champ races which has not changed because when asked the StG moth sailors decided they would not be going to SIRS anyway. All except me have to work Mon and Tuesday.
All decided and set.
