Heya All,

I have been playing with the NSC calender and thought we should talk about interclub events again. The question are people going to travel this season? Last season ended up being pretty poor in terms of syd sailors travellling. Without knowing anyone elses calender what would people think of the following:

Oct Long Weekend: jervis bay or single handers regatta, (Both at great places to sail, My preference is prob jervis bay due to friends in other classes going down for it)

BYRA = Sun 2nd November, Wardi / Les are you keen to have us up there again
NSC = Sun 30 November or 7 December
Balmoral = Sat 11 January
Woollahra = Sun 1st March, Scott, John is sunday woollahra's race day - is there any gaps in your 18 program to moth woolahra interclub into,
St George = Saturday 22 March,

Nationals been later, makes it bit harder but any comments. I won't be at the AGM due to ski ski ski

I sent this draft around to a few people:

Sunshine Oct 25-26
Balmoral Nov 15
St George Dec 6 (when it always blows 30kts)
Nationals Jan 19-25 Geelong
Feb 22 Northbridge
March ?
States at St George Easter April 10-12 (Subject to negotiation)
BYRA Marathon May 3?

I missed Jervis but we can do both Jervis Bay in early Oct and Sunshine late Oct.
States might be Woollahra or St George.
There is also Sth Pacs in NZ in Feb.

NSW AGM at my place 16/8 at 4pm to decide.

so if we add Woollahra in March and for states then the final deal looks like:
MOTH NSW Programme
Sunshine Oct 25-26
Balmoral Nov 15
St George Dec 6
Nationals Jan 19-25 Geelong
Feb 22 Northbridge
1st March Woollahra
States at Easter April 10-12 (most likely Woollahra)

Can we move the Woollahra Interclub to the 28th Feb or 7th March given they are going to be running Moth racing regularly on Saturdays?

OK so it becomes:
MOTH NSW Programme
Sunshine Oct 25-26
Balmoral Nov 15
St George Dec 6
Nationals Jan 19-25 Geelong
Feb 22 Northbridge
7th March Woollahra
States at Easter April 10-12 (most likely Woollahra)

The Sunshine ZHIK singlehanders regatta is the weekend after next. About 8 -14 moths have indicated they will be going. The club indicated that they would like entries by tomorrow.
NOR and entry form are available on SA forum:

Woollahra & St George calendars have an Interclub scheduled for Sunday March 1 @ Woollahra.

Start @ 1.30.

Is someone keeping track of the interclub scores?

Pete, in answer to your question re: a Scow, it was the November 1989 Balmoral Interclub in a 'Black Nor Easter' back when Balmoral still raced on Sundays.

Steve Penny from SMSC won in KA 8985 a McFrawd scow joinly designed by Amac, Jim French and Wardy. (the boat was since - owned by your good self - Stalker and currently owned by Jenny Muller and still at SMSC).

Peter Morrison was leading after 2 laps in KA 9097 (the legendary balsa skiff 'Arpalfarpafarpalsprout' ) when one stay broke. Peter had been timed by BSC as averaging around 8 knots over the distabce travelled but when one adds in the unmeasured upwind distance (the zigs not the zags) it was closer to 10 knots. All who remember / surrvived the race remember it as being premier boat handling akin to Steve Shimeld's performance in the 86/87 Adeliade World's, the likes of which we are unlikely to ever see again (unless there is a massive speed development which comes at a major difficulty / skill boathandling cost sometime after the current stage of development of foiling).

Date's Up
